Owner of Maureen’s Pie & Mash, Maureen Patterson says “I’m over the moon to have won the competition and delighted to have been nominated by members of the public. It has been a pleasure to serve traditional pie and mash to the East End community for the last half a century and we hope we can continue for many years to come.”
Docklands Light Railway, with the help of Secret London, has been uncovering the hidden gems of London's East End. You'll find some unique places that are a little off the beaten track, anything from vintage bargains to cabaret theatre.
We also want you to submit suggestions of your favourite neighbourhood gems around the DLR network. The area has some of the richest history and culture in the capital, so whether it’s a bargain foodie haunt, fabulous thrift shop or quirky independent cinema, DLR wants to know about it!
Suggestions can be made here or on Twitter using the hashtag #dlrgems. Top tips will be built into an online resource to help tourists make the most of what the area has to offer as well as to help promote local businesses.
